The costs involved in sorting out a child’s SEN provision can be considerable. You should consider the following:
1. Are you eligible for legal aid? – see the eligibility calculator for civil legal aid Very few people are eligible for legal aid, but it is always worth making sure.
2. Do you have legal expenses cover in your home insurance? – most of these policies exclude cover for education cases, but it is worth checking.
3. Are you a member of a trade union that provides legal cover? Again, they may not cover education issues, but this is another place it is worth checking.
4. We are willing to consider doing work at reduced fees / pro-bono in exceptional cases.
5. There are well respected charities who assist parents of children with SEN, including IPSEA, SOS!SEN and HACS who may be able to assist.
